The Society of Typographic Aficionados is pleased to announce the availability of the Font Aid VI: Aster Affects typeface through the SOTA Store. Created to raise funds for relief efforts after the events of Hurricane Sandy, designers from around the globe contributed glyphs in the form of asterisks and other star-inspired symbols.
Font Aid VI: Aster Affects may be purchased for $20US through the SOTA Store.
In answer to Hurricane Sandy, SOTA made a call out for people to submit asterisks in order to raise money. They have now finally all been put together to create the Font Aid VI Collection.
Here is my submission to it, along with the explanation that goes with it:
It represents the turning force of hurricane Sandy, going from light to dark, catching and destroying what is in its way into its center, between the forms of a wind wheel and a circular saw. I tried making contrasts from light to dark in order to show the different impacts the hurricane had, and it’s variation of force. The ends are pointed, making the sign more aggressive.
